Embossed Labels

Embossed labels (and debossed labels) are popular effects used on labels to create a 3-dimensional, sophisticated look to your luxury label. Embossing features a raised effect on chosen areas of your label, whereas debossing does the opposite and creates an inverted effect. Embossed labels look best when used on thicker, more premium paper materials, as the thicker the material the deeper (or higher) the effect will look. All the details on your embossed labels will add a level of complexity to your labels, which is ideal for anyone wanting to style their products as a premium product.

What products are embossed labels for?

We work with all industry sectors and often get enquiries for embossed labels along with other embellishments to add value to the look of a label.

Adding this extra detail to your labels does come at a slightly higher cost, but in turn, it can increase the cost of your products as it creates a real high value, luxury look. Therefore, we commonly see the following industries wanting to invest in that special touch to target their high market audience:

Embossed Printing

Being one of our most popular services, embossed printing adds an extra dimension to your labels by creating raised effects on chosen areas of your label. Choose from debossed or embossed printing for a raised or inverted effect which add a luxury feel to your packaging and stand out from regular 2D labelling. As well as being visually effective, the raised surface or indentations add texture to your labelling and encourage customers to pick up your product.

Can any label material be used?

Embossing works best on thicker premium papers as the heavier the density, the more prominent the 3D effect becomes. Using this label embellishment on a thin material may not be noticeable to the eye, or the material may not be strong enough to withstand the stamped design, and tear.

Our team are on hand to help offer the most suitable materials and can send out free samples for you to choose your desired premium paper.

How do we make embossed labels in the UK?

We’ve been making embossed labels in the UK for many years, and have learned a few tricks along the way for getting the best results. A unique metal die (plate) is created with your chosen embossed design – this can include individual lettering and specific images to make your desired areas or the entire label stand out. The label material is then placed firmly between the embossed metal die and a flat metal die. Heat is applied to press the pattern onto the material and create the raised embossed label effect.

The raised texture not only is noticeable by eye but also touch, which entices people to pick up your product to run their fingers along, feeling the indentations created from the embossing process. This sense of touch can make a big difference to customers’ purchasing decision, giving your products with embossed labels, a head start over your competitors when sat on a crowded shelf.

Whilst embossing labels can be used by itself, it is often paired up with hot foil labels to add a more dynamic look to your labels and highlight areas of the embossed parts of your design. Embellished labels with metallic details are one of our absolute favourite things to produce, and they’re sure to lead to an increase in sales for you.
